The general opinion concerning vehicles which use water for fuel is that this idea is new and somehow futuristic. However, water powered engines were used in the 18th century, so the idea is older than we think. Because gas prices were not a problem in that period and people were not aware of the global warming effects, research in this field was not that popular.

In 1960, the U.S. Congress was concerned about pollution and thought that it would be a good idea if people used an alternative for gas. Soon the big companies started researching “the future engine”. They made electric engines, and researched the ones that used only water for fuel, but it proved to be a great challenge. The engines that were based only on water were not that popular because they downgraded the car’s performance, so they had to come up with a different idea. Also, they were expensive and hard to implement, making their mass production very difficult because there were no buyers. People didn’t believe that they were better alternatives, because they were costly and their performance wasn’t satisfying.

Hybrid automobiles were the key to lower emissions and oil reduction. An engine that combined hydrogen power with gas power was the answer, at least until a better solution was found.

Nowadays, people can make this change without having to buy a new car or completely transforming their own. This solution will help create a better and safer environment. With only a small investment, you can also change your car into a hybrid car. The hybrid car uses both gas and water for fuel. Although gas emissions aren’t zero, as people would like them to be, they are greatly reduced (almost 50% of the emissions are reduced).

Producing and distributing gas is a very damaging process and it will eventually lead to global warming, tropical forest destruction, and an unhealthy environment. Hybrid cars produce less pollution because they use less gas. With the oil resources becoming very low, this is a great idea because, eventually, gas will become very expensive.
